誰でも情報発信者になれる現代社会においては、ワインエキスパートの方でもソムリエ並みに有名な情報発信者になることもざらにあります。

ワインエキスパート試験 独学で合格は可能か？
最初に結論
おそらく皆さまが知りたいのは手っ取り早く「ワインエキスパート試験は独学で合格できるのか？イエスかノーか？」でしょう。
結論を言うと完全に「イエス」です。
しっかりとした方向性と学習の素地があれば独学でも十分に合格は可能ですし、スクールにわざわざ行かなくても合格している人は多くいらっしゃいます。
ですが、ここまで大雑把な「独学で合格」だけでゴリゴリあなたの自己流で勉強しても、おそらく目的は達成できないはずです。
独学には当然独学のメリットとデメリットがあるため、それを押さえたうえで独学での学習をしないといけないからです。
また、「独学」の反対は「スクールの活用」でしょう。これにももちろんメリットとデメリットがあります。
それらを踏まえないで判断すると、間違った方向で学習をしてしまい、最悪な場合、学習をすればするほど合格から遠ざかる可能性もあります。
ここで最低限の「独学のメリットとデメリット」「スクールの活用」の全体像についてみてみましょう。
まずは独学のメリットとデメリットです。

ここでは箇条書きで説明する方がわかりやすいでしょう。これらは最低限押さえておきたい項目です。
独学のメリット
1. 費用対効果:
独学の最大のメリットは、コストを抑えられる点です。専門学校や講座に通うと授業料や教材費がかかりますが、独学なら自分で選んだ教材のみで学習できます。
2. 自由なスケジュール:

独学の最大のデメリットはこれでしょう。
教材選びや情報収集において、自分だけでは網羅的な知識を得るのが難しいことがあります。
特に最新の情報やトレンドに関する知識は、独学では手に入れにくい場合があります。
5. 実践経験の不足:
ワインテイスティングなどの実践的なスキルは、専門家からの指導や実際の経験が重要です。
独学では、これらの機会が限られるため、実践力の向上が難しいことがあります。

通学型ワインスクールのメリットとデメリット
では、通学型のワインスクールを検討してみましょう。
通学型ワインスクールとはイメージしやすいワインスクールの形です。
決まった場所、決まった時間にスクールに通い、講師の授業を受ける。
テイスティングもボトル一本ではなく、グラスでできますので効率的に映ります。
通学型のワインスクールのメリットは、なんといっても学習する雰囲気のある空間に身を置くことでモチベーションを維持しやすいことに尽きます。
同じ目標を持つ人が集まる訳ですので、そこから自然と出会いも生まれやすくなります。
しかし、通学型ですので当然スクールは運営費用が掛かります。
大手ワインスクールは場所も都心のど真ん中にあることが多いので維持費も大きくなりますし、当然それをまかなうために広告も多く打ちます。
ではそれらの費用はどうするのかというと、当然生徒が支払う料金に反映されて、上乗せされた金額の支払いをするということになります。
そのため費用はすべての学習方法の中ではもっともかかり、相当な意気込みがないと普通は通えません。
（逆に言えばそれだけの思いのある人が集まるということですので、これについてはデメリットだけということではありません。）
通学型ワインスクールは、なくても合格可能
では、実際に通学型ワインスクールに通わないでも合格は可能なのか？これについてははっきりと「はい」と答えられます。
少なくともWBSでは通学型に通わないで合格している人が多くいますし、おそらく生徒様のレベルはあらゆるスクールの中でも高い方だと思います。
もちろんWBS以外でも多くのオンラインスクールがありますので、それらのスクールで単体で合格者を出しているところも多いはずです。
言いづらいのですが通学型のワインスクールはビジネスモデルが古く、生徒にすればわけのわからない入会金や会員維持費まで支払いをさせられることもあります。
もちろんメリットも多いのですが、合理的に判断すれば通学型のワインスクールは割高で、利用される方は限定的になるはずです。
当然このことは通学型のワインスクールも認識しているはずなので、オンラインスクールも利用できるところも多いです。
しかし当初のビジネスモデルがありますので、オンライン専門のスクールとは乖離があるのが実際のところでしょう。
オンラインのワインスクールの利用は？
では、オンラインのスクールはどうでしょうか？これを独学と呼べるかどうかは微妙ですね。
というのもオンラインとはいえ費用を一度に払いきって、合格までのすべての講義を受講するとなるとかなりの費用になるところもあります。
これもめちゃめちゃ言いづらいのですが、オンラインとはいえそれなりのシステムにすれば維持費は膨大にかかります。
これを賄うためには多くの生徒を集める必要がありますので、派手な広告を打っているところも少なくありません。
なので「オンラインだから通学型よりも安い」は単純にイコールにはなりませんし、それなりの費用は覚悟をするべきでしょう。
こうなると受験生にすれば通学型並みの意気込みが必要になりますし、オンラインだから独学と呼ぶのは無理があるかもしれません。
参考書だけで合格は可能か？
多くのひとの「独学のイメージ」はこれでしょう。
書店に並ぶ参考書や問題集を買って、これで学習をして合格。これであれば胸を張って「独学で合格した」と呼べるのではないでしょうか。
これはもちろん可能ですし、再現性も低くはありません。実際にこの手法で合格した人だって多くいるはずです。
ただしワインエキスパート試験は年々難しくなる傾向にあって、情報の質はより重要性が高まっています。
書店に並ぶ参考書は、僕自身も書籍を発行したことがあるのでわかりますが、リアルタイムで反映出来ているかと言えばあやしいです。
実際の発行までには
打ち合わせ⇒原稿だし⇒校正⇒レイアウト決め⇒校正⇒印刷⇒発行
となり、どれだけ短くても最初の打ち合わせから発行まで数か月はかかります。
こうなると3月に教本が発売され、これをもとにした書籍の参考書をその年のうちに発行することは無理ということになります。
そのため書籍での参考書で学習される方は、同時にネットなどで最新情報をできる限りゲットすることをお勧めします。
