【一次試験の自己採点では50％以下】
1年かけたチャレンジで、プライベートの大部分の時間を犠牲にしたので、やはり合格によって報われました。
もし１次試験で落ちていたとしたら、かなり落ち込んで、もう一度チャレンジする意欲がでてきたか自信がありません。（おそらく基礎がある程度できているので今年ほど時間を犠牲にしなくても合格できると思い気を取り直して再チャレンジしたと思いますが）
１次試験は、ケアレスミス等もあり、自己採点では80問中38-39問程度の正解だったように思います（あくまで推測ですが）ので、合格ラインぎりぎりだったと思います。
多少のミスがあってもぎりぎり合格点を確保できたのはWBSのアドバイスのおかげだと思います。
【勉強の時間と方法】
勉強時間：約450時間: 6ヶ月間の助走期間+毎週土日に16時間 X 26週（約6ヶ月）
勉強方法：
【一次対策】
下記を組み合わせて実施
・教本３周ほど（１周目：理解しながら精読、２周目：重要事項を書き写しながら、３周目：暗記・スペルを確認しながら）
・アマゾンで購入できるエクセレンス問題集：重要な問題をピックアップして、回答できるよう訓練
・一般呼称の問題集を記述式で答える訓練：４択ではなく、記述式でこたえられるように繰り返し訓練
・単語帳の作成、地図帳（地図と産地名、品種、人物等をリンク）の作成と暗記の質の確認
【うまくいったこと】
・直前に東ヨーロッパ方面とフォローアップセミナーの内容に力点を入れたことで一定の点数が確保できたと思われること。（フランスやイタリアのように出題範囲が広いと終盤での短期間で点数Upの確保は難しいと思われます）
・ソムリエ協会のzoom upセミナーやテイスティングイベントで出たRamatoやHemel en Aardeなどが出題されたため、フォローアップセミナー以外でもできるだけ協会のイベントに出ておくのもよいかと思いました。
【うまくいかなかったこと】
・テイスティングとワインの購入・保管・提供の章を時間の関係でカバーできず、あまり出ないかと思っていたが、予想に反し結構な数が出題されたため苦戦しました。
きちんと時間をとって教本などを読み込むべきでした。
・直感で出た答えを後から変更して失敗。
Welschrieslingと答えたものを後からGruner Veltlinerに変更したり、ChernozemをCherzenomに書き換えたり。あいまいであれば直感の方が正しいことが多いかと思います。
【二次・三次対策】
ほぼWBSの前場さんと辻本さんからの毎日個別指導のみで対応できました。
加えてアマゾンで購入できるエクセレンス２次対策用の書籍のテイスティングと論述の箇所を念の為読み込んで理解に努めました。
【うまくいったこと】
テイスティングは、白（アルバリーニョ）、ロゼ（タヴェル）、赤（カベルネフラン）、赤（シラーズ）についてのそれぞれ楽しみ方、醸造方法、合わせる料理、フルコメントの記述とそれぞれの産地、品種、ビンテージを答えるものでした。
個別指導のパターンと出題形式が少々異なったが、ほぼ訓練によって対応ができました。（品種や産地はほぼ全外しでしたが、ワインの特徴やペアリング、醸造はそれなり答えられたものと思います。）
論述ではオレンジワイン等「広める系」とBYOBでのワイン会の「企画系」の問題だったので、個別指導訓練で十分対応することができました。
【合格するためのアドバイス】
ワインエキスパートエクセレンスはやはり１次試験（筆記試験）の通過が最大の関門だと思います。
これはとにかく教本の内容をカバーし、アウトプット（正確なスペル）の精度をあげるしかないと思います。
戦略としては、例えばフォローアップセミナーは２〜３割程度出題されるため、これを６割以上正答、東ヨーロッパや英国・ルクセンブルグなど覚えるページ数の少ない国々で６割以上正解、ワイン概論と日本で６割以上回答できれば合格への道は開けるのではないでしょうか。
あと自分の得意なあるいは好きな産地（私の場合はアメリカでした）を１、２カ国持っておくとよいと思います。
そして１年間を通じてモチベーションを維持し続けること。これはWBSの講義に定期的に参加すること、前場さんや辻本さんと会話を続けることでモチベーションの維持ができました。
ワインエキスパートはソムリエとは異なるキャリアパスを目指すことで、ワインのプロとしてのアイデンティティを確立すべきだと思います。
今回遠い先にはマスターオブワインへの道がかすかに見えてきた気がします（笑）。
今後は机上中心の勉強に実践中心の活動を重ねて、なんらかの形でワインの世界で貢献ができるようになりたいと思います。
