2023年エクセレンス第一日程合格発表がありましたね。
まずは受験された方、大変お疲れ様でした。

今年は例年にくらべソムリエエクセレンスについては
138名中8名が合格という大変厳しい結果となりました。
合格率5,7％
ワインエキスパートエクセレンスは
107名中19名の合格
合格率17,7％

例年と比較して
例年、ソムリエ、ワインエキスパートと共に一次試験は受験者数の20～25%の割合が合格率でした。
正答率50％以上で合格というのが例年の感覚です。
合格人数は毎年一定層決まっており、上位数名が合格になると予想をしていました。（合格基準点はある）
問題内容から回答、合格点の基準を含め、全てが明らかにされていませんので予測しかできませんが、合格の基準を格段に引き上げたのでしょう。
特にソムリエに関してはそれが顕著に見られます。
ソムリエ協会が求めていること
ワイン市場がなかった日本に、ワインと食文化を広めることが当初のソムリエ協会の役割でした。
現在では日本はワイン関連資格保有者が世界トップクラスの国となりました。
一方で、
- 世界のワイン市場に影響を与えるワインジャーナリスト
- ソムリエの世界大会で優勝をするソムリエ（田崎氏以降、日本人の世界大会優勝者はいない）
これらの人物がいないのが現状です。
ソムリエ協会が今求めているのは、世界のワイン市場で活躍するワイン資格保有者でしょう。
エクセレンス試験はその登竜門的試験です。
出題レベルも合格ラインも国内基準から世界基準へと変わりつつあると見ています。
実際の出題内容
WBSが独自の聞き取りをして実際に出題された内容の一部を抜粋します。
- ミネラルウォーターの硬度の計算式（数字を埋める）
- オーストリア地図問題 1,2,3,4,5,7を原語で回答（2023年教本339Pより地図）
- Cavaの主要品種で、グランレセルバにも単独使用され、フレッシュさとミネラルをもたらす品種
- スミレの香りのするアロマ化合物の名前
- アルゼンチンに二酸化硫黄を紹介した人物
いかがでしょうか？
エクセレンスの受験を考慮されている方は、「教本丸暗記」という言葉を目にしたことがあるかもしれません。
フォローアップセミナーの内容をやり込めば点数には繋がります。
それでも年々出題の難易度は上がっています。
特に今年の出題傾向を見ると、教本丸暗記やフォローアップセミナー対策に集中しただけでは合格できる内容ではありませんでした。
丸暗記だけでなく「深く・正確に理解する」という段階まで落とし込まなくては歯が立ちません。
また、全80問の出題のうち英語の設問は25問です。
英語の出題については、英文を全て理解する必要はありませんが、重要な用語を原語で覚えることが大切です。
WBSの対策
一次試験については、問題の数をこなし、傾向に慣れることをおすすめしています。
WBS会員専用ページでは、各単元につき予想問題と解説動画をいつでもご視聴できます。
ソムリエ協会が提供するフォローアップセミナーを元に作成した集中予想問題集もあり、毎年約3割がそこから出題されています。
一般呼称用の予想問題集も難易度を高く設定してあり、エクセレンス試験への理解度を高めるのにも役立ちます。
受験を考えられている方へ
エクセレンス受験を考えていらっしゃるのであれば、早い段階から対策を始められることをおすすめします。

なーなさんのウェブ講義や、合格対策日記を日々楽しく拝見させて頂いております。
そのおかげもあり、テストに出やすい箇所や、勉強の仕方をつかんできたところですが、今年のソムリエエクセレンス合格率の低さに「来年自分大丈夫かな」と思ってしまいました(;^ω^)
